Should I just give up?
One listener feels that way. What do you do when it seems that everything in life is working against you? Is it really possible to turn your life around – does it require a miracle or can anyone make new decisions to change from despair to optimism? We’ve got some listener input on both sides.
Episode #870 February 17, 2023
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real-life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
Thank you for being a listener of this podcast. I love hearing from you and being allowed to think through the questions we all have about finding or creating work that matters, for people who care.
Questions:
How can I spur my parents on to develop a plan for their lives even after 65?
Find the audio version of 48 Days To the Work and Life You Love here. The biggest challenge for those who go into retirement is purpose. They often have the other two things they need, friends and money. Hopefully, by the time you are 65, you have a pretty good idea of what you enjoy doing and what you’re good at, so it’s just a matter of coming up with an economic model. Look at getting into a specific niche. Also consider a bricks-and-mortar opportunity as well.Last spring I discovered that I could make $40/hour selling free horse manure in my spare time.
I think you’re on the right track. A lot of times in these service-based businesses, you can make more money teaching other people how to start a business like yours than to run one yourself. You’re moving from linear income to residual income.Do you have a recommended breakdown of the best way to organize a coaching business in a 40-50 hour work week?
I still recommend you use the same percentages that you do in the 15-hour-per-week model. Learning – 20% – 10 hours for a 50 hour week week Creating – 33% – 16 hours Earning – 27% – 13.5 hours Planning – 20% – 10 hoursI feel that I’m taking someone else’s oxygen and should just not try anymore.
I’m confident that if you can turn the corner on some of these other things you can experience some healing with your health as well. I’m always optimistic about the potential for change. Don’t give up. I want to encourage you to get around people who are excited and growing and will be eager to encourage you. Find out how here. If you just respond to how you’re feeling, you’re likely to just continue in the same situation you are in. You can act your way into new feelings. You are in the driver’s seat. You can turn this around.Quotation:
