If you have the mindset for success, having no money is not an issue. Here I describe the two critical things that can keep you moving forward and open up any door of success you want.
Episode #841 July 29, 2022
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
Questions:
What are the two things required to move forward with your success – even with no money?
Read great books
Books have been the #1 thing that have opened up the door to new opportunity for me. Reading the “masters of achievement” helped me think bigger and see more opportunities in my life as they can you. We are going through 12 books this year in the 48 Days Eagles Community — one each month. These are some of the books I recommend you read. You can find them in your local library or click here to get direct links to each one on Amazon. How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie See You At The Top by Zig Ziglar The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz Future Proofing You by Jay Samit The Success Principles by Jack Canfield The Dip by Seth Godin Deep Work by Cal Newport The Millionaire Mind by Thomas Stanley High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard Free To Focus by Michael Hyatt Daily Rituals by Mason Currey Tools of Titans by Tim FerrissHere are a few others Dave Ramsey and I studied together in our Mastermind Group several years ago:
Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor e. Frankl Fit Bodies, Fat Minds by Os Guinness Entrepreneurs of Life by Os Guinness Thou Shall Prosper by Rabbi Daniel Lapin Outliers by Malcolm GladwellKnow yourself
85% of the process of having the confidence of proper direction comes from looking inward. There are a lot of different personality assessments you can take. We promote the DISC Profile. It tells you how you relate best to other people, what kind of environments you are most comfortable in, how you best manage and sell. We have companies that purchase these 100 at a time for their employees and their teams.I want to also encourage you to change your mindset on some of these “expenses.”
Our family has a lot of fun playing the game Cash Flow. I highly recommend it for teaching adults and kids alike how to invest for the future. I remember playing with my daughter Ashley and her family a while back when Ashley had a big “aha moment.” She said, “To win at this game, you have to quit thinking about what you can afford and start thinking about what is a worthwhile investment.” That’s right! Think of these things as investments you are making in yourself. They will yield you a much higher return than the stocks you buy — they always have me.If you have no money, instead of doing without, be creative about how you can get these resources.
Here are a few ideas:- Volunteer at high-level conferences
- Reading books
- Listen to The Strangest Secret every day for 31 days. It’s absolutely free. Last week, I challenged you to do that during the month of August. It will change your life forever. We are actually having a contest during the month of August. To enter, listen to it every day for 31 days of August and then send me your story (1000 words) about how you are controlling your thinking. What shaped you to be the person you are today? What did you do to change a direction of your life? What are you doing daily now to keep the negatives out of your life? I will choose two people from those entries to interview on the podcast and award you with your own copy of Dream Job that I did with Nightingale Conant.
- Barter for coaching (mow their yard, wash their card, babysit their kids for an evening, etc.)
- Be creative in how you reach out to people who could help you in this process.
- Connect with SCORE (Service Core Of Retired Executives), very successful business people who volunteer their time with their local Small Business Administration.
- Look for your local Career Assessment Center.
- A lot of churches have career transition support groups.
- Career Network Workshops through local Community Centers
