Stop asking for permission
- Do my “nontraditional” educational experiences really have value in the workplace?
- I make over a $100,000 year, but I don’t really have any skills that could propel me into a new direction.
- How can I build an audience without having “haters?”
- What if the negative person in your life is your spouse?
- I have too many ideas to start my business and achieve what I want.

Great examples of nontraditional education. I agree with you Dan, we all share stories about products and services we really like with family and friends effortlessly. The challenge for some is getting paid to sale the products and services you like, what platforms to share and how to market. An affiliate is an option if the products and services has an affiliate option.
The negative people in your life reminds me of the saying you become the five or ten people you spend most of your time with. Most statics point out that we spend most of our hours in a day at work. If so, would this statement you become the people you spend most of your time with true if you work at the following places: prison, drug and alcohol rehab, mental health facility and people with learning disabilities. Does that mean people working in that environment with those individuals would you become like the people your’re around?
Jacqui,
I have experienced people in all the places you mention who are kind, respectful, and committed to positive growth. And I have observed people in non-profits, government organizations and churches who are cut-throat, greedy, and small thinking. It still comes down to the individual organization and the people you chose to associate with.

Dan I just caught up on my podcasts and I almost choked on my coffee when you mentioned my book “The Nun Diaries.” There is no doubt in my mind your shout-out led to a 100% increase in downloads from all around the world. Thank you so much for downloading it. You have no idea how much the 48 Days community has meant to me. I remember just over 3 years ago I was frustrated and about to take a $12/hour job just to quit teaching. Now I work a quiet 9-to-5 job that allows me to concentrate on my writing at night and on weekends. I have a series of books planned that I am very excited to slowly launch over the next months and years. Thank you for your inspiration you provide every week! –AK
Annie,
Oh I loved it. Read it at lunch recently – and I’m delighted you got some new activity as a result. Keep living a life of adventure and creativity!
Hi Dan,
Around the 26.33min mark you mention Jamie & Ruth, former Teachers now selling Camera’s on eBay, however I couldn’t make out the last name. I have a different product I would like to sell and would like to see how their store is setup as an example. If it’s not breaking any privacy laws, could you please tell me how their last name is spelled so I could look it up?
Thanks,
Tim
Tim – not a problem. I’ll connect you with Jamie Slingerland directly. Jamie Slingerland
