So many of us have early family scripts about money. Do you think money is good – or just a necessary evil to survive? Do you think more money would make you happier? Is the only purpose of money to be able to retire? Here I have a conversation with Derrick Kinney about his new book, Good Money Revolution – How to Make More Money to do More Good.
Episode #819 February 25, 2022
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
Questions:
Isn’t the American Dream – make enough to “retire” and then you don’t have to continue the rat race of making money?
We’re finding that people are working hard all their lives in a job they may not even like. But what if you could have the freedom and the meaning right now to motivate you to make more money to make an impact in your local community. By tieing your business to a cause, people will often pay more money to buy a product or service because they want to be part of something bigger.I know it’s nice to be generous but won’t giving more just delay my ability to retire?
When you pair your motivation for a cause you care about along with your ability to make money, you can often actually make and save more money. Is there really such a thing as a “fixed income” or does everyone have the ability to make more?
Derrick believes that should all have the ability to create money. Why do most religions seem to imply that having money is unGodly?
What about tax-deductible giving?
Tax-deductible giving is not bad. But giving from the heart creates a culture of generosity in your family. It’s important to think of giving as more than charity but also to help someone or some organization have a bigger impact.Quotation:
