The Ultimate Advantage Cruise. I just heard from Chris – our cruise director – that we are in need of a single female passenger. He had two roommates and one had to drop out. That means a female can take that slot without having to commit to a double room. Give Chris a quick shoutout if you’re interested. And yes, if you want a room for you and your spouse or you and a friend you can check with Chris as well. Looks like this will be our biggest group ever. And we’re planning for some fun things together. [email protected]

Great episode Dan!
Was it just me or was this one particularly inspiring? I was pumped! You should consider the theme music from “Rocky”! That’s what was playing in my mind as you were describing the success that some people are experiencing!
I love Daniel Lapin’s view on success and money! I have met a number of people who almost seem to apologize for having achieved a level of wealth and success, and others who wear poverty like a badge of honor! The Rabbi blows this misconception that wealth is bad right out of the water!
Allan
Thanks – my wife even commented on this one!
Dan- Thanks for sharing our resource for military veterans!! For folks that missed the live event, the replay is now live and will be available until Friday, Dec. 5th right here – http://www.eliteachievementsolutions.com/48dayscountdown
I respectfully disagree with the assertion that poverty in and of itself is evidence of disobeying God and the presence of evil. It is neither an automatic sign of righteousness or of evil. It’s a result of various things.
There were rich and poor people in the Bible on both sides. Jesus warned against assuming the rich were favored by God. The parable of the rich fool pointed out that a rich man could be totally thoughtless concerning God and thus be lost (Lk 12:13-21).
Paul commended the Macedonian church for giving even though they were in “extreme poverty” due to persecution as he urged the Corinthians to continue their giving (2 Cor 8).
When considering a theological statement, we must look at what the Bible says and then also consider whether our understanding makes sense in all cultural situations. We often look at things from the perspective of our American culture where we have so much opportunity and forget the vastly different situations of people around the world.
The impoverished family in Nigeria, Peru or India is not necessarily disobeying God. They most likely were born into a poor family and have limited resources and education. Even with programs provided by organizations like World Vision to teach these families, most will never be rich / prosperous by American standards, but they can reach self sufficiency.
I urge you and the 48 Days community to seriously consider these points to be sure not to misunderstand God and His Word. Thanks for reading and thanks for all that you do.
Michelle – your points are well taken. When I referenced Rabbi Lapin’s book Business Secrets of the Bible he was talking about “societies” or “countries” – not individuals or families. True, we will always have the poor among us but in general when we look at “societies” we do see them thrive in following God’s principles as laid out in the Bible. Incidentally, Rabbi Lapin was born in South Africa – he has a heavy British accent. Thanks for your insights and defense of the poor around us.
Thanks for the clarification, Dan, as well as the spirit in which it was given. Point makes more sense now.
