Choosing the person that will run your life for the next four years
I’m talking about the critical decision we all have to make about the person who will be running your life for the next four years.
I’m certainly not talking about the president of the United States.
I’m talking about the president of your actions for 2021-2025. The president of your goals, dreams, and plans to make your life and those of your country better.
YOU
If others looked at your performance for the last four years, would they vote for you to be re-elected to run your life?
Would you vote for you to run your life?
How have you progressed toward the goals you set back in 2016? What about the ones you set for 2020? Yes, we’ve all had challenges this year but if people were looking at how you’ve responded this year, how you’ve realigned for those challenges – would they vote for you to be their leader for the next four years? Are you excited about having you in charge of your life for the next four years?
Those running for political office right now have had every action, facial expression and word evaluated and shown out of context. What would your life represent if people could examine every move you’ve made that closely?
What promises did you make yourself and those around you for the year we are finishing now?
Did you deliver on your promises?
Have you taken responsibility for the way this year has gone for you – or have you pointed fingers at the economy, the pandemic, the government, the company and your spouse?
What are the people who know you best saying about your performance this year?
What are your critics saying about your competence and leadership?
If you were faced with a debate with someone who strongly disagrees with your actions this year, would you be able to convince millions of people that you had made the right choices?
Perhaps it’s more important to assess our own track record more than that of the current “politicians.” What if we spent our energy and thought on what we can do to improve the economy, take care of those who need help, ensure our future as a country, and find hope in the midst of challenge, rather than expecting some person who lives in a protected bubble to provide that for us?
I’m convinced we can create a massive ripple effect to contribute to the solutions for a better life for ourselves, our families, our country, and ultimately the world.
I’m excited about my options for the president of my life for 2021.
There’s no question who I’m voting for. I’m totally confident about the direction of my life for the coming four years.
Vote for yourself – but be a candidate that others want to follow as well.
“Your success as a family, our success as a society, depends not on what happens in the White House, but on what happens inside your house.” Barbara Bush in a commencement address at Wellesley College.
To do that, first, establish clear goals for yourself in all 7 areas of your life. This includes financial, physical, personal development, family/relationships, spiritual, social and career. To find out more on how to do that, get my FREE Goal Setting Workbook here.
Then, find a way to hold yourself accountable to your goals. Plot them on a calendar. Set deadlines for yourself. Find an accountability partner — someone who will cheer you on and also show you tough love when you need it. That’s one thing I enjoy most about the 48 Days Eagles Community. We hold each other up, provide resources for each other and we hold each other accountable so our goals and dreams don’t get lost in the shuffle of life.
You have the deciding vote
Now is the time to decide who is going to run your life.
