This is a very common question. And I don’t think it’s as complicated as we sometimes feel it is. There are some simple principles that will give you insight and clarity. In this episode I lay out four basic principles to remove “the kink in your hose” that may be preventing you from hearing God’s will.
Episode #781 June 11, 2021
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
Questions:
How do you know if something is a million-dollar idea? If you get multiple ideas every week, how do you choose?
Take all the ideas you have. Keep a lot of them. List out 20 of them and filter them through what you know about yourself: your skills and abilities; values dreams and passions and your personality traits. Narrow your list down to three or four ideas. Then do a little more research and narrow down to one and act. Go full force with that idea for one year without looking back. After the full year then determine if it’s getting the traction you’re looking for.I feel like there is something specific for me to do but because it’s not clear I cannot move forward.
Some people are trained in a very specific profession that many think makes it hard to use that specialized skill set in a different field. But I encourage you to think like an Eagle. How could you use your background and knowledge but breakthrough those traditional constraints?I am a young 66-year-old female. I lost my job 16 months ago and can’t get another job.
Your age is not the critical factor. Knowing yourself and knowing what you have to offer is. Practice answering questions. Anticipate them. Check out some sample interview questions to not only help you prepare to respond but also to have questions you should ask during the interview in 48 Days To the Work and Life You Love.I’m stuck in a job that’s not for me any longer and don’t know where God wants me to go next.
God has given us a whole lot of information with which to determine His will for our lives: • The 10 Commandments • Corinthians: Love Your Neighbor As Yourself • Tithing • The Fruits of the SpiritQuotation: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” -Picasso
Resource:
Get my workbook to help you create your own personal mission statement here.God has instilled the desire in each of us to have a sense of Mission rather than just a job. Although others around you may be quick to judge you by your job, your own sense of peace, fulfillment, and accomplishment comes only as a result of having a clearly defined Mission.
So here’s a quick recap of what you can start with to know God’s will:
- Follow the 10 Commandments
- Love your neighbor as yourself
- Tithe 10% of your income
- Display love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control in everything you do.
If you’re doing these you’ll remove the kink in your hose – your eyes will be opened, your heart will be receptive, and the will of God will be pretty easy for you to see and understand.
Joanne and I will be sharing three principles that will help you build not only a successful business but a strong marriage/relationship with the 48 Days Eagles Community on our Monday Mentor Call on June 21st at 2 PM, and we’re opening it up to the public in a special open house. Save your seat here.

Thanks Dan, this Podcast was helpful. The tithing is what I need to work on. I’m really lost and want God’s plan to be more clear. Loved all your advice you gave on that and will try it…I will be moving out of State in a year or so, i have not really found a church I like where I currently live. In your opinion, does it matter where I tithe? I like a church where I am moving to and feel comfortable with how they use money. I just don’t have a local church as of now. Is this looking too much into it.😄👍…Jeff/Anaheim, California
