Create Your Future
Nathaniel Hawthorne went home to tell his wife that he had just been fired from his job. “Good,” she said. “Now you can write your book.” Hawthorne used the time to write “The Scarlet Letter,” one of the great masterpieces of American literature. Maybe your unexpected job loss is opening the door to a greater opportunity.
Episode #708 March 20, 2020
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
What healthy habits do you attribute to your success as a leader?
There is nothing that contributes more to my success than my reverence for the first 30 minutes of the day. It prepares my mind, body and spirit for anything the day brings.
In that period of time, I do not check phone, text, email, social media or news of any kind. That’s not what I want in my brain during those first minutes of the day.
If you win the morning, you can win the day.
I encourage you to include three things at the beginning of every day:
- Mastery – move towards something new
How can I start my day with confidence rather than doom and gloom?
Why is it that some people dream and their lives never change while others dream and walk into new successes every day?
What should I be doing while I’m unemployed?
I’m 60 years old and have been on SS disability – what can I do now?
How can I break out of a paycheck mentality and do something on my own?
