Focusing on one thing doesn’t mean the others would have been wrong choices. But you’ll never be outstanding or experience extraordinary success unless you choose one direction for the next five years. And as Alice in Wonderland was told: “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.”
It’s okay to recalculate. Much like the GPS recalculates the route you are taking to a specific destination, when you recalculate, you may be changing the route you are taking but your destination, direction, goal should stay the same.
What about you? Have you recalculated this year so far? Do you think you’ll need to recalculate as we enter the second half of 2022 in the next month or so?
Episode #831 May 20, 2022
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real-life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show. Thank you for being a listener of this podcast. I love hearing from you and being allowed to think through the questions we all have about finding or creating work that matters, for people who care.Questions:
How can I combine and leverage my paid courses, newsletter, subscription service, membership, mastermind group & teaching?
Here is my 3-part formula to clearly state what you do: I help __________ understand ____________ so they can _____________. The way I developed my Venn Diagram is to put my book in the center with 0 projections from the book itself. What I really focus on is how I help people experience the messages of my books in other ways (courses, membership groups, mastermind, etc.)Right now I have many things tugging at my time, talent and money. I would like to do all of them but find it difficult to decide and focus on one thing.
First, you need to determine a clear goal for yourself so you can focus in on one thing. You will never be outstanding or experience extraordinary success if you don’t focus in one area. Grab a piece paper and make a list of 20 things where you have ideas, talents and passions. Check out Vincent Pugliese new book The Wealth of Connection here. He will be joining us in the Eagles Community for a Monday Mentor Call in June. Focusing on one thing doesn’t mean that the others would have been wrong choices. Once you have a direction, you can recalculate. Is the current lifestyle of the author one of your criteria for choosing a book to read and recommend?
I do consider the lifestyle of the author when reading and recommending books. I have stopped recommending some books because of authors who are living a lifestyle that I don’t want to recommend. However, we don’t want to disregard good principles. For instance, there are a lot of things about Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich, which the Eagles Community studied in detail last year, but I still recommend his book regularly. It is on my list of 48 books I recommend reading. Jim Rohn says: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with“. If you’re spending time with a book, you really are spending time with the author.Quotation:
