I’m still not sure if I heard this correctly or just imagined a little twist. What do you do when you need a new plan – and a boost to your faith? In this episode, I start off with a simple process for creating new options to consider when your “game” seems to have dried up.
Episode #788 July 30, 2021
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real-life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
Questions:
Why should I keep trying when God keeps closing the door on my calling?
If God calls us to something, wouldn’t he open the doors to make that happen? You may need to take a fresh look at your calling. I break this down very specifically in 48 Days To the Work and Life You Love. Your calling/vocation is the big picture – what you want to be remembered for. Your career is a subset of that. There are a lot of careers that will allow you to fully embrace your calling. If God is calling you to something, you will likely already have talents in that area. I do believe it requires work and struggle to be effective even if we are operating in our calling. But I don’t think God will call us to something that does not align with our passions, talents, personality traits, and dreams. Find out more: Should I Change Myself or My Calling?I was given a raise because of my sales volume and then fired a week later. What do I tell a new employer about my reason for leaving my last job?
If you have the sales ability you were rewarded for, the next company will not be as concerned about why you left. You are in the driver’s seat in finding your next opportunity. Please tell me if I’m crazy! I want to be the Jack LaLane of the baby boomer generation.
It’s a wonderful idea. It’s great to attach your name to something well-known. There’s a sequence I’ve been working on to develop your idea:- Start with your curiosity
- Move to proficiency
- Then develop your passion
- Identify purpose
- Develop your promise
- Then you’ll see profit
Am I lazy, scared, lacking self-discipline or all of the above?
You can’t just superimpose a plan of action like I recommend. You first need to start with your curiosity. Then take action on the things that you are excited about. Don’t focus on the process. Focus on the end result. What is the transformation that you want then you can find the method for getting there? Find out more: No Passion — There’s a hole in your bucketQuotation:
