We are all selling. Whether you’re a teacher, a homemaker, a CEO or a used car salesman, we’re all selling something. And that’s okay. In fact, it’s great news. Because that’s how we serve each other well.
When I was a young Mennonite farm kid I thought sales people were out to take advantage of us. But then I heard Zig Ziglar say ”You can get anything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.”
If people trust you, they’ll do business with you
He went on to say, [spp-tweet tweet=”If people like you they’ll listen to you, but if they trust you, they’ll do business with you.”]
I’ve never seen that more true than today. We’ve all seen the bad examples of selling. But if you go to your favorite restaurant it’s because you trust them. If you purchase groceries at Publix, it’s because you trust them.
You may be selling yourself to your employer every day, or maybe you have a yard service and want more customers, or maybe you’ve written a book or are an artist with a few paintings you’d like to sell. The principle is the same – if people trust you, they’ll do business with you.
Zig Ziglar has a wonderful story about the pump.
[spp-tweet tweet=”We’ve got to keep pumping, keep pumping and keep pumping, until that clean, pure water starts to flow.”]
He tells that story in this video (28:32) put together by my friend Kevin Harrington. I encourage you to watch it (it’s free) and learn the strategy Zig used to take himself from a poor farm kid to a super successful businessman. The picture here is of Tom Ziglar (Zig’s son) and me last week here at the Sanctuary.

You are going to LOVE this video…Kevin will share the secret with you, then he pulls out some never-before-seen vintage footage of Zig Ziglar teaching this secret.

P.S. After you finish watching this video, you might want to sit down as a family and let your kids learn this important lesson.
What an impactful video! Thank you for sharing, Dan. Love this quote Kevin shared by Paul J. Meyer: “Whatever I vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass!”
