You’ll be most successful when you are true to yourself, not when you’re trying to be something you’re not. Steve Wozniak said “Most inventors and engineers I’ve met are like me. They’re shy and they live in their heads. The very best of them are artists. And artists work best alone…” Let’s talk about how you can be most effective in sharing your art.
Episode #872 March 03, 2023
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real-life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
Thank you for being a listener of this podcast. I love hearing from you and being allowed to think through the questions we all have about finding or creating work that matters, for people who care.
Questions:
What else should I do to feel confident I’m attacking the right next job for me?
Always start by looking inward first. 85% of the process of having the confidence of proper direction comes from looking inward. We often too quickly look outward. The more you know yourself, the more confidence you’ll have in choosing the path that’s right for you.
The biggest category of people who listen to this podcast are people who are working a full-time job but dreaming of doing more. I would encourage you to look at the broad scope of possibilities, not just the people who will hire you and give you a paycheck.
Is it possible for you to be a management consultant for multiple companies, giving you the opportunity to triple your income?
This is a great time to look at all your options.
Start looking inward by understanding your personality style with our DISC Personality Profile.
I have often jokingly referred to myself as a Serial Hobby Jumper. I haven’t been in love with any one thing long enough or fiercely enough to develop clarity on how to make it work.
Don’t try to monetize everything that you enjoy. I do have that tendency, but that’s not always the answer.
We all should have something that is just a fulfilling hobby and not necessarily something we try to monetize.
I think you’re idea of having a serial jumper podcast would be great, but approach it in such a way that you get maximum enjoyment out of it even if it’s not a direct way to generate money.
Money usually shows up unexpectedly on the side as a result of doing something that we enjoy.

What are some ways that I can reassure myself that I’m on the right path?
There ought to be a sense of peace. If you are sleeping well and feel good about what you’re doing.
I’m an introvert who is able to get out there and meet people, do book signings, etc. – but it exhausts me emotionally and physically. How do I find balance in having to do that?
You really don’t HAVE to do anything. But if you really want to make an impact on the world, you do have to expand your connections.
As an introvert, you can do that in ways that fit you.
I would recommend you read Susan Cain’s book, Quiet: The Power of Introverts In a World That Won’t Stop Talking
