Are you doing the same thing you were doing three years ago?
You may take pride in the fact that you’ve been at the same job for 18 years now. Is there more value in staying the same or are you missing new opportunities? Be careful about putting loyalty above growth. Be careful thinking you are strengthening the guarantee of your future by continuing to do what you’ve been doing in the past. Don’t confuse commitment with stagnation.
Episode #894 May 19, 2023
Hi, this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real-life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
Thank you for being a listener of this podcast. I love hearing from you and being allowed to think through the questions we all have about finding or creating work that matters, for people who care.
Questions:
I crave beauty in art and life but have been repeatedly told I can’t make a living doing that.
See this as another opportunity to do what your heart is calling you to. What does this make possible? You can combine your passions for coaching and art and create a unique offering for clients. By identifying your specific coaching niche and targeting clients who appreciate your art, your can create a sustainable income while still having the necessary flexibility for your son and other responsibilities. Look at Mark Ross, who is part of the 48 Days Eagles Community, and how he has combined his coaching with his passion for art. You may have to get another JOB to get you through the transition, but see that as such. For your coaching, look at specifically who you serve and how you help them. If you have one client, you should be able to get 5 and replicate the income from your JOB.With social media tools changing so quickly how can I use them effectively?
Social media does offer many new opportunities to connect with your audience. I recommend taking a course on the strategies you’d like to use and/or finding someone to collaborate in an area that is not your zone of genius.Do you have any suggestions for how to find w2 work from home?
Finding W-2 that is remote and work from home is very reasonable. There are many new opportunities out there that offer remote work. The process is really no different than finding a traditional job highlighted in 48 Days To the Work You Love- Getting a clear focus and looking inward what are your skills and abilities, skills and abilities, values, dreams and passions.
- From those create a resume that really presents you well.
- Send out an introduction letter.
- Follow up with a cover letter and your resume.
- Follow that up with personal contact in some fashion.
- Then move to the interview stage where you can let companies know of your desire to work remotely.
Key Takeaways:
• Stay open to new opportunities and avoid putting loyalty above growth. • Changing careers can be a new beginning and present new opportunities that one may have not been aware of before. • Determine your passion and skills and think of ways to combine them to create a unique offering that adds value to your clients. • Utilize social media and tools like podcasts and the new opportunities they offer to create a loyal and engaged audience • Prioritize growth over loyalty. • Find flexibility in a job or start something on your own.Quotation:
