James wonders if he can take his mission-based business idea and make it work. My response is that any business you consider should be a passion-based/mission-based business!! The only way you can maintain a business is if it blends your passion(mission), talent and money. I give several examples of how even ideas based on serving others well can survive and thrive.

Three legs of the stool of business success. I describe my business as “not only for profit.” Take your seed of an idea and let’s look at ways we can unpack that so it can make you money. The timing of asking for more is critical. Don’t get into this negotiation too early. But if you’ve already agreed to work for a year, then it’s too late. The sweet spot is at the point when they know you are the person they would most prefer in that position and you know that’s where you want to work.
