You know the old saying – If you keep doing the same things and expect different results, you’re insane. A listener suspects that of himself. What about you? Are you doing the same things you were doing five years ago – one year ago? With the rapid speed of change we can’t get trapped into trying to keep things as they were, or just trying to get back to “normal.” Improve your sanity by growing and moving forward.
Episode #792 August 27, 2021
Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real-life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.
I love cooking for people. How can I open a restaurant?
Find something unique that will set you apart in a sea of restaurants.
Take your initial desire and then expand on it.
Check out John Levy’s new book, You’re Invited as an example.
I’ve been burdened with the thought that I am not very good at anything.
Continue exploring who you are. The DISC Personality Assessment is a great place to start.
Is my personality something to be overcome, or could it possibly be used to my advantage?
Your personality is not something to be overcome. It’s something to be understood and embraced.
Become clear and confident in what you bring to the marketplace.
If I start a new business I feel extreme pressure because I cannot afford to fail at all.
It wouldn’t be a business if there wasn’t a possibility of failure.
There is nothing you can start that will give you any kind of success that doesn’t also include a possibility of failure.
Turns out I’m insane by definition since I’m just as miserable in my new job as I was before.
Yes, it does sound like you need a change, but don’t think of it as an either/or situation. Get creative about what an ideal position would look like that would validate your background.
Then you can plan for moving forward to making a more drastic change.
What books do you recommend to people who want to start their business now?
Make it a point to read two books a month.
Can my podcast playlist tell me what my passions are?
I think your playlist DOES tell a lot about you and what you’re interested in.
