The studio
We are 48 Days Press
48 Days Press is a division of 48Days.com. We are a full-service book editing company that provides editing, plus a network of resources, from outline and development coaching and front-end vision organization to marketing and podcasting.
Beyond the manuscript, the team can help with brand development, marketing, podcast creation, graphics, and illustration.
How we work
Our Process
Beginning our journey
Start by completing the form to clarify timelines and expectations. You can upload any materials that will help us understand what you’re looking for.
At this point, we're getting to know each other to see how we can best support you.
A conversation first
Our collaboration starts with a phone call, Zoom, or FaceTime. You’ll meet the team member who is the best fit so we can understand the heart of the project and whether we should work together.
After that conversation, we follow up with a proposal: what we can offer, a timeline, and a quote. The editing itself moves through four phases, with regular check-ins along the way. We advocate for the work, celebrate what is already strong, and gently name where it can grow.
Developmental guidance
Strengthening the structure, flow, and narrative elements that carry the book forward, including the core message framework.
Content enhancement
Refining the ideas while preserving the author’s authentic voice and enhancing the message with graphics/art.
Technical editing
Polishing grammar, syntax, and consistency for a cleaner read. Formatting for publisher specifications and cohesiveness.
Final refinement
Adding what one client described as “music to my words.”
Working with us differs from conventional editing services. We don’t simply correct your manuscript; we help you discover its fullest potential. Our clients often say our collaboration helped them uncover depths in their writing they didn’t know existed.
Whether you’re crafting your first book or your tenth, we bring the technical expertise and creative insight needed to prepare your manuscript for the world. Together, we’ll create a work that honors your vision while meeting professional publishing standards.
Investment
We’ve coached writers, edited, proofread, and endorsed books for decades. The goal is to help people see that they have more inside them than they think, and to deliver that message well.
Editing is both a time and financial investment. Most manuscripts need structural and content development, often 30 to 60 minutes per page. We provide a precise quote after we've assessed the project. After we meet, we send an editing example (or other mockup) so you can see our work.
Core idea extraction
Limited each month
Most manuscripts arrive with the core idea still buried. Before editing begins, Kevin helps you discern and name the one idea you can be known for, so every chapter can drive it home.
Editorial coaching
First session $400. Additional hours $275.
Just getting started? Coaching covers organizing and developing ideas before a full edit. Editors often collaborate, and any of them can take a manuscript from start to finish.
The foundation
$2,500–$5,000
Ilea Dorsey Angaza organizes ideas, journal entries, and loose chapters into a structure, then prepares the manuscript for copy and line editing.
Draft development
$3,000–$5,500
Joanne Miller develops the big picture: plot, character and scene detail, theme, and transitions. The pass includes line and copy edits and prepares a first draft for formatting and proofreading.
Line and copy edit
$2,800–$3,800
Joanne, Ilea, and Ashley address spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, redundancy, and clarity. They thoroughly clean up the text before formatting and submitting it to a publisher.
Final polish
$1,500–$2,500
Required for publisher submission. Ashley Miller Logsdon proofreads, formats, and prepares the manuscript for layout, catching the last details a first draft still hides.
Allow a minimum of 6–8 weeks from start to completion, depending on the scope. Deadlines can be discussed.
Children’s books
Under 2,000 words: $775. 3,000+ words: $850+.
Includes line editing, a review of structure, appropriateness, and message for the intended demographic, plus author information and a back cover if you want one.
Illustration and launch support
Illustration can cover children’s books, scientific textbooks, and everything in between. The same team also offers brand development, podcast creation, and marketing. Prices depend on the scope.
The people you’ll work with
Editors, a podcast host, a marketer, an illustrator, and a brand strategist. The people below are the ones you may meet, depending on what the manuscript needs.
Brand strategy
Jared Angaza
Jared is the strategist who brings intention and direction to a message and builds branding so the author is fully known.
He also creates beautiful graphics and websites, aligning your vision with the visual expression that conveys it best.
Host, The Kevin Miller Podcast
Kevin Miller
In more than 1,700 episodes and 70 million downloads, Kevin Miller has hosted conversations with over 400 leading nonfiction authors. He regularly reviews new books and decides which ideas are clear enough to share with his listeners.
Core Idea Extraction uses the same eye on a manuscript before editing begins—to name the one idea an author can be known for. It is open to a limited number of authors each month.
