Love Does

Recently I wrote that the world doesn’t pay you for what you know – but for what you do.  Too often we think, pray and plan when we need to just DO.

Well, my friend Bob Goff does just that.  His new book describes his amazing life Love Does.  (Release date is May 1st but Amazon is shipping) I got the book on Saturday and finished reading it Sunday morning.  It’s that engaging.  As Bill Hybels, pastor of Willow Creek Church, says – “If this book does not make your heart beat faster, book the next flight to Mayo Clinic.”

In one chapter Bob tells about getting hit by a little old lady while driving his Jeep.  She ran a stop sign and hit him broadside.  He was thrown through the roof and landed some distance from the now rolled over Jeep – which was totaled in the accident.  You have to know that Bob is a very high level attorney.  But his response to the accident?  Did he sue that old lady for all she had?  No.  He checked to make sure she was okay and then said, “Lynn, I can’t lie….That was the coolest thing that ever happened to me!”  The next day he sent her flowers and checked again to see if she was okay.

In another story he tells how his grades weren’t good enough to get into law school, so he sat on the bench outside the dean’s office for seven days until the dean relented and told him to go buy his books.

Today he’s a law firm partner and founder of Restore International, stopping atrocities committed against children in Uganda and India.

Doesn’t this sound like a guy who is sucking all the marrow out of life?

I just ordered 25 copies to give to our Advisors and my Eagles Group guys.  If you have a life story showing your love doing something extraordinary tell us about it here.  I’ll choose two to receive free copies of Love Does.  If you are living an ordinary life, buy the book and do 10% of what Bob has done.  You’ll never be the same again.
