Excellence or Shoddiness – choose well

People often diminish the value of a job that doesn’t seem to be important.  But slacking in a current job because it “doesn’t matter” or because you “aren’t being paid enough” is creating character habits that you take with you.  Slacking, shoddiness and blaming are not character traits you want to allow in your life.  Be excellent in whatever you are doing – excellence will become a continuing habit.

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry.  He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say:  Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
