How do I get started?

We have all the resources you need! Please look at the promotional materials, listen to the podcast Dan and Ashley did on prospering with the seminars Here, read the FAQs, and find your market audience. If you want to really do this as a profit venture, your best option to hold the classes as a segue into your for-profit coaching business.  We see the most success when small businesses (specifically coaches) use the 48 Days workshops as a feeder for personal coaching clients. If you are a coach and are looking at ways to build your business and generate additional income, check out our Coaching with Excellence Events.

Is this just for people who are unemployed?

The 48 Days workshops aren’t merely for people who are unemployed or unhappy in their current work positions.  The mission of 48 Days is to foster the process of imagining, dreaming and introspection, to help people find their calling and true path, and to translate that into meaningful, purposeful and profitable daily work.  We believe that work is about much more than merely a paycheck, and finding that fit is an inward-looking process.  That being said, the workshops aren’t just about refining your resume and going about a job search–we will look at setting goals, creating a personal mission statement, and identifying ways to succeed in all 7 areas of your life, not just in your work.  (Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, Financial, Social, Family, Career).

For some, attending these seminars gave them affirmation and confidence that they are exactly where they want to be in their current positions.  For others, the biggest component they got had nothing to do with career and everything to do with addressing life balance and how they had prioritized the other 6 areas of their lives.  And for others, the critical personality profile and understanding how (and why) they act/react a certain way was the biggest eye-opener.

Bottom line, this is way more than a career transition class–this is a life-perspective change that will hopefully inspire everyone to see the opportunity no matter where they are in life!

What is the significance of 48 Days?  How do I fit that into a 12 week class?

You may be asking, why 48 Days?Well, the Bible is quite clear that God considers 40 days to be a spiritually significant time
period. In fact, in the Bible, anytime God wanted to prepare people for something better, He took 40 days.

  • Noah’s life and the world were transformed by 40 days of
  • rain.
  • Moses was a different man after spending 40 days on
  • Mount Sinai.
  • The Israelite spies scouted the Promised Land for 40 days.
  • Elijah ran more than 200 miles in 40 days on 1 meal to get
  • to a place where he could hear from God again.
  • Goliath spent 40 days challenging the Israelite army while
  • God prepared David to confront him.
  • The people of Nineveh were transformed in 40 days after
  • God’s challenge to change their ways.
  • Jesus was empowered for ministry by spending 40 days in
  • the desert.
  • The disciples were transformed by spending 40 days with
  • Jesus after the Resurrection.
  • There are 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter (not
  • counting Sundays).

I’m giving you 8 free days in the process to create your own plan. Take a break on Sundays and a couple of Saturdays. Don’t
knock yourself out; just stay committed to this time frame to avoid the usual procrastination.
The next 48 days can transform your life. Take them to look at how you are uniquely gifted, identify your strongest characteristics, consider the options, choose the best path for meaningful and fulfilling work, create a plan of action, and act.

This is taken directly from the 48 Days to the Work You Love book, and gives you an idea on the number.  However, it’s just that–a random number.  Dan chose a number because it gives people a deadline to look for.  It doesn’t have to be 48.  For some, it may take them two weeks, for others, 6 months.  The point is to lay out a plan and work toward an end goal and meet it.  You can set your own deadline.

This is how we can teach this class in a weekend workshop, 6-week course, or 12-week course.  What we are teaching are principles–not a required schedule.  The videos are set up for 12 weeks, with 12 48-minute videos (go figure).  So you are all set!

How do I turn the class into 6 weeks instead of 12?

These classes can be taught in a variety of ways, but the most common we hear about are 6-12 week sessions.  In the church and college settings, this fits in with typical class lengths. We allot about 1- 1 1/2 hours for each lesson–so a six week course would be about a 2-3 hour class.   Many opt for 8 weeks for wiggle room and getting to know each other better.

Do I have to complete the course prior to teaching it to others?

The more you know, the more clout you have. If you have not actually gone through the materials before teaching, that will show in how well you teach it–if you are looking at this as a profit venture, then I would recommend you study up! Go through the materials, listen to the Informational Podcasts and get involved in our 48 Days Facilitator’s group to get feedback from others.

Is there a lot of preparation for the facilitator prior to each new class?

You need to know what the class is about. . .it really depends on how much you are investing into the class–if you are just popping in the full-DVD series, there isn’t much prep work, as Dan basically does the class for you–just be prepared with playing the DVD and have a few questions from the Leader’s Guide for afterward. If you are teaching the class yourself with just the short-intro DVDs, then yes, you need to prepare the same as you would for teaching any class.

I’m interested in teaching this class; however, I’m not sure how to handle payment.

We’ll work with you to set up a specific plan to make this feasible. A lot of it depends on where you are teaching this class. Churches sometimes like to collect registration and then cut one check to us, or if you are teaching this for profit, you have the church or other organization pay you directly and you pay us either by going online and purchasing it through the site or mailing a check to: PO Box 681381, Franklin TN 37068-1381.

Here are some payment options:

  • The Church/Organization cuts a check in the full amount to 48 Days, LLC (this allows them to put whatever price tag on the class, and just pay us the product cost)
  • You as the facilitator write a check to 48 Days, LLC (again, allows you to state the price and just pay us for the product)
  • You mail in the individual checks (made out to 48 Days, LLC) and credit card slips and we will process them here. DO NOT mail them in until you have the full amount! *this option is only if you are charging the flat rate of the kits with no profit to you. We do not cut checks for the difference if we are processing payment on an individual basis.
  • You just purchase from us directly online-this is the easiest option! You can order the materials up front, or pay after you receive the registration money.

**FOR TENNESSEANS: In order to be tax exempt, the Church must pay for the materials and provide us with a tax-exemption form. Individuals will be required to pay state tax. *

I want to be a 48 Days Facilitator for a profitable business-how do I go about doing that?

If you are really serious about utilizing the 48 Days Seminars as a money-maker to to segue into your own coaching business, your best option is to come to our Coaching with Excellence event. We’ll discuss the 48 Days Workshops and so much more.  Read more details here.

I live in Tennessee and want to purchase product and qualify for a tax-exemption – how do I get that?

If you are a TN resident and a non-profit or reseller and qualify for a tax-exemption, please email an attachment of your signed CIE and/or reseller’s license* to [email protected] and we will provide you with a tax-free coupon code to use on your purchase.

*You may download and fill out the reseller’s license here:https://tennessee.gov/revenue/forms/sales/f1300701.pdf.

Where would I be able to purchase products by the box?

There are quantity discounts on almost all of our products.  When you add them to your cart, you’ll see price breaks–when you enter in the quantity, the price will automatically correct it.  Typically, the best supplemental materials that are not in the participants’ kit are No More Dreaded Mondays and Dream Job, and the Living, Loving & Working CD set.

Do you suggest that I contact some of the current facilitators to find some answers to these and any other questions?

This is a great idea, and we have an incredible place for you to do this! www.48Days.net is THE “idea network,” actually dubbed “The Future of Intelligent Dreaming,” and we have a group devoted to the 48 Days Seminars-pose a question, read the discussions, and get involved with people teaching these classes all over the world! Go directly to the group page HERE.  *Additionally, all 48 Days workshops participants are encouraged to join the group and discuss what they are learning HERE.

I need a quick “elevator speech” pitch on what the 48 Days seminars are all about-can you help me?

This is a whole new way to look at “work”. If you are considering a career change, are concerned about your current job outlook, or are just questioning the purpose in what you do every day that you call “work”, this is your opportunity. 85% of the process of finding the right career direction comes from looking inward — before you look at where the opportunities are. This workshop offers a fresh perspective by looking at you first – then the 15% application part comes into view. We start by looking at your Skills & Abilities, Personality Traits, and Values, Dreams and Passions. Once you understand you, and where you want to go, it gives you a whole different perspective on your opportunities.

How do I use the 48 Days Schedule in the class?

The 48 Days Schedule does not mean that you have to be doing exactly what day 12 says on day 12. The schedule is simply a checklist to ensure you go about the job search in the right order. We chose 48 Days obviously because this fits with everything we do. If you do this process in 22 or 56 days, that’s fine. The point is that you set a deadline and you accomplish the checklist in the amount of time you set for yourself – no more dragging your feet!

How does the DVD relate to the Lessons–what are we covering each week?

There are twelve DVD lessons and twelve lessons you go through. The first DVD is more of an introduction into the concepts–by the second DVD, you need to be up to speed with Chapters 1 & 2 in the Application Guide. From then on, it’s best if you read the chapter for the lesson before coming (so be prepared with Chapter Three before going through Lesson Three, etc).
