= Dear = Kevin,

Each week we receive hundreds of emails =96 questions about work and busine= ss, and poignant comments about what life is offering.

This week I reviewed an unusually large number of 48 Days Coaching requests. Included in those were= comments like:

I really believed this new job would be an opportunity for a fresh new s= tart on many levels but guess what.....Wherever you go; there you are!<= br>
And this: I keep finding myself in this same place of 'what do I want to= be when I grow up' only I'm older each time I arrive here.

Here=92s a concern: I'm afraid I'll discover that what I am doing now is= as good as it will ever get.

In responding to this question: "In writing your epitaph, what would you wa= nt people to remember about you?" One lady wrote: I am upset about how= my life has ended up. I am not sure I want to be remembered.

Just realize that if you=92re not where you want to be =96 tomorrow is a ne= w day! You can make any excuses for how things are today, but you can choo= se what tomorrow is like.

= This week I ran into a friend I=92ll call Sam whom I had not= seen in several years. You know how the conversation ultimately gets arou= nd to =93What are you doing?=94 Sam told me was retired and was doing abso= lutely nothing. He had put in his 30 years with a big company and so at ag= e 53 he was getting what he said he worked his whole life for.

Frankly, I was flabbergasted. At a young 53 and with children now just lea= ving for college, Sam has more time, money and energy than ever before. An= d he chooses to do nothing?

Is the only goal of our working life to get to the point we can stop workin= g? If so, then it confirms the picture that work is just a bitter pill to = be endured until the moment you can escape it.

In this week=92s issue of Ministry Toolbox, Pastor Rick Warren talked about= hedonism. He said =93the number one goal of a hedonist is to feel good= , be comfortable, and have fun. It=92s the worldview that Hugh Hefner foun= ded Playboy magazine on. He willingly acknowledges he is a hedonist. It=92s= not just playboys who are hedonists, though. In fact, someone who lives fo= r the goal of retirement is a hedonist. If the whole goal of a person=92s l= ife is to simply do nothing, live a self centered life, and make no contrib= ution to the world, that=92s hedonism.=94 Ministry Toolbox

So how would you like to stand before God on judgment day and say, =93Wh= en I began my adult life I spent the first 30 years in a job I hated and th= en I spent the next 30 years looking at my navel. Now what kind of =91trea= sures=92 do I have in store here to enjoy for eternity?=94 I strongly = suspect your =91reward=92 would be to continue the boring nothingness of ha= ving no goals and no worthwhile work.

I know that's not what you want for your legacy.

Okay, I keep tweaking the process. We have a great program posted for this= week. You can see some of the topics just a couple paragraphs down here. =

Katie Fitzpatrick emailed us this week asking about the 3-week absence of t= he podcast. She said, "48 days is the T-bone steak I treat myself to= in the midst of my TunaHelper week." Thanks, Katie!

It seems to work best to just have your questions in advance and then I can= work as many as possible into each 48-minute show. I=92ll create the podc= ast and have it up each Wednesday morning. This is the easiest format to h= ave your questions answered. Just click on this email link and you can ask= about resumes, interviewing, at-home business or getting out of a negative= partnership. Here are some questions answered in this week's 48-minute broadcast:

1. What should I do when I keep asking and believing for good things, but c= ontinue to have disasters in my life?

2. How do I get a publisher for my instructional book and CD that I=92m alr= eady selling well?

3. With fewer and fewer jobs matching the rising cost of living, how do I f= ind one that pays what I need to live on ($65K+)?

4. I=92m 48 years old and stuck in a dead-end job where I=92m not using my = skills and abilities. My wife says it=92s too late and I=92m too old to sta= rt a new career. I don=92t know what to do.

You can submit your question right now =96 I=92ll work as many in as possib= le for this week's broadcast. AskDan@= 48Days.com

= I=92ve always told people they could not expect to make mone= y just from having an invention idea. However, Stephen Key has proven me t= otally wrong on that it seems. Stephen has made a fortune simply licensing= his ideas to big companies.

Last week my buddy Tim Knox interviewed Stephen in a 58-minute information-= packed session. If you=92ve got the next Frisbee or Hula-Hoop or and want = to protect, license and profit from your idea, listen to this free informat= ive interview.
