I’ve noticed a pattern. People, who are called to create something significant, often encounter significant Resistance.

Some call it spiritual warfare or Murphy’s Law. Bestselling author Steven Pressfield identified it as the “Resistance.” His predecessor Freud referred to it as the Death Wish—the destructive force inside human nature that rises whenever we consider a tough, long-term course of action that might do good for others or ourselves.

If you’ve ever tried creating a business, a work of art, or a book you’ve felt it. If you’ve ever taken action toward expressing your dream you’ve confronted it.  (My wife Joanne, unpacks this force in her book – Be Your Finest Art.)Escaping Shawshank

Odds are you have an idea, an enterprise, a masterpiece planted deep inside you. But this desire remains dormant as long as you give in to the Resistance.

Although Resistance takes many forms (fear, criticism, rationalization, distraction, perfectionism, and procrastination—to name a few) its effect is always the same.

Resistance fights tirelessly to keep you stagnant and stuck. Resistance works overtime to prevent you from escaping into your creative call and embracing your divine destiny.

So how do entrepreneurs, artists, and authors overcome the Resistance and create their good in the world?

This Thursday night I want to give you a chance to ask your questions – and to address some of the things that hold us back.

Join me, Joanne Miller, and Kary Oberbrunner on a special FREE webinar called Escaping Shawshank this Thursday –  March 19th. We’ll show you how to identify, engage, and overcome the Resistance. When you register you receive a FREE guide with practical tools, tips, and strategies.

On this webinar you'll discover:

  • Why Resistance is the #1 sign you're on the right path.
  • The 6 most common ways Resistance shows up.
  • 3 proven strategies for dealing with Resistance.
  • How to create measurable hope, freedom, and clarity.
  • A path for implementing your dream NOW.

Sure we’re all busy. But, this is one of those experiences too important not to miss. (Don’t let the Resistance keep you from it.)

You should be on this webinar if:

  • You're an entrepreneur with a business inside you.
  • You're an artist with a masterpiece inside you.
  • You're an author with a book inside you.
  • You're a leader with a ministry inside you.
  • You're a change agent with an idea inside you.

Let’s overcome the Resistance together in 2015.

In the words the Shawshank Redemption,

“I guess it comes down to a simple choice—get busy living or get busy dying.”

If you don't do anything else – at least watch the trailer.  Kary did an awesome job – I think it will engage your attention.  Join us for the free webinar this Thursday evening, March 19, 2015 at 7:30 PM Central.  Escaping Shawshank  We'll answer your questions and invite you to the actual event.

  • Look forward to tuning in tonight. I’m familiar with Pressfield’s focus … when I read him, I cannot help but think in spiritual categories. When creatives and builders read Pressfield on this, it’s like gazing into the mirror.

    • Brian – cool. We were at 822 people registered for tonight early this morning. It will be fun – and hopefully more informative.

I’m confused about why this event is 3 days for $1547, but Tony Robbins event coming up is just $650 and its 4 days. The price for this seems quite high.

    • We’re transporting you in buses, getting you access to Shawshank Prison, also to Spark Space, keeping it a very small and intimate group, and providing meals. Tony’s events are awesome – but you’ll be sitting in a hard chair in a big crowd. Very, very different experience.

I now see who your target audience is and its not the unemployed.

    • No this is probably not a good fit for someone who needs income immediately. We have lots of other resources for that but this event is for someone who is doing well now, but feels like there’s something bigger they’re being called to do.
