"Wow! I cannot adequately express how much I enjoyed this pod cast. You captured the story of my life. Thank you for verbalizing feelings and emotions I have long suspected to be true. I wish I could tell you how liberating your thoughts are and how fulfilled my life is becoming as I listen to and implement your ideas. Thanks so much Dan." - Spencer

Why are the Amish successful in business?

Play

1.  Dan, what does your normal day look like?  What do you generally do after tea and muffins with Joanne?

2.  Could you share a few key ideas on how to find satisfaction at work?

3.  What percentage do you pay contracted employees?  How do you calculate that?

4.  Could you share a little bit about your background, and your connection to the Amish?

5.  What kind of a role do you see faith or spirituality playing in having a fruitful, rewarding career?

6.  What are some of the typical challenges you see people encountering in today’s economy?

Strong Woman – needs freedom

Play

1.  I am a woman (primary care physician) with a TAKE CHARGE personality, who enjoys exercising power and authority, who communicates boldly, directly, and who is very determined and extremely competitive.  Given my very strong and driving and independent personality, how could I transition my current career track to a more fitting vocation?

2.  I have been approached to join an organization called Business Network International (BNI.com).  Have you ever worked with them before and would it be worth investing the time and money?

3.  You have often described your life in Tennessee including, among other things, your morning commute to the Sanctuary.  Sounds like heaven to me.   I imagine that you have a nice combination of peaceful surroundings, perhaps solitude, and interaction with others.  What is the ideal balance for you?

4.  I have imagined the possibility of hosting small group seminars to talk about weight loss and returning to health. I do not have a medical or nutrition degree, but I believe I know enough to help people. Is this feasible, or would my lack of concrete credentials present too much of a problem?

5.  With the real estate market the way it is, would it be advisable to get into sales at this time? I am licensed but not ready to give up my security of the paycheck at my full time job but want and have always wanted to do real estate sales.

I’m dismal at Sales

Play

1.  Having taken your Personality Profile I found that I have none of the characteristics needed to sell myself. How do I overcome this problem as I work to create an income from home with my own business? I love helping and teaching people one on one and have many skills but am dismal at sales of any kind. Please help!

2.  I am faced with the decision of taking a risk of opening a business, that if I succeed, will be in a field of interest and help to generate a better lifestyle OR go back to college and hope to get a job that will bring me similar success in my life. I cannot continue where I am. I have to make a decision.

3.  Your low cost business ideas are great. However, you don’t go into the difference on gross, net and self employment taxes. Do you have a different view on taxes or do you leave this for your audience to find out when they get audited?

4.  I have an idea for taking some of your easy start ups and create a branding for several of them and offer them as a package or start up kit throughout the country. I think this would be an opportunity to help others earn extra income or create a whole new career for them as well.

5.  I work with unemployed members of my church to help them find more meaningful employment. Some of them have been out of work for over 8 months. What are some coaching principles you would be willing to share for those of us that want to help people set in ineffective methods and beliefs?

Is 48 Days just hype to make Dan rich?

Play

1.  I am a 63 year old married lady who is still working and never has any money. I am afraid of failure, I do believe…plus, I really don’t know how to follow through. Here’s my dilemma…I believe I have a story that needs telling…

2.  I have a good government job that allows me to telecommute. I go weeks between projects. It goes against my work ethic to do something other than work during the 8 hours I’m paid for. It’s killing my self-esteem.  Your thoughts?

3.  Dan, is your 48Days a self help program and will it find me a better job or is that all hype to sell your book? If it does work, do you have any proof of this? I am a critic as I believe you are trying to sell me something that may not work just so you can get rich.

4.  The insurance agency I work for is literally dying. Business hasn’t been great in this area — my paycheck has been less than $18,000/yr.  The agency manager wants to retire in 5 years and is trying to encourage me to take over. I’ve thought about moving on to pursue schooling, but then I read the “Acres of Diamonds” story again and am not sure if I am passing up my own acre by leaving. I’m sick of living paycheck to paycheck, but have a family to support. Any advice?

5.  I am working 40-60 hrs a week not including drive time. Only on page 96 after a little more than a month reading 48 Days to the Work You Love. I want a more suitable job, but feel overwhelmed and tired. If I can’t put out a ton of time to my job search what can be done? Thanks

6.  My name is Kurt and I stay in South Africa, Cape Town.  I havent had work for a very long time I’ve struggled so much.. sometimes I wish life were easier on me, because, well, sometimes I feel like ending it… but I dont give up and I try my hardest! I dont need the millions, I just need my life. I’m 23 years old, I don’t even have a car.  I’m not here to beg, I’m here to ask for help as I want to do something with my life and you’re the last bit of hope I have…

Play

2.  I know my passion but have spent my whole life avoiding and even sabotaging it due to fear.  Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of the unknown, fear of running out of money, etc.  How do I get past my fear so I don’t lose my chance?

3.  I want to do a series of interviews with authors and celebrities that I will turn into products to sell in creative ways.  What are my legal, financial and ethical obligations with the people I interview?

4.  We are trying to relocate back to Colorado, but it is 12 hours away.  We have been following your plan and he even went out to Colorado for interviews, but since he was not currently a “local” he was passed up.  What else can we do to get job offers if we are not a “local”?

5.  Hi Dan, I have some ideas on how to improve a couple of existing products in the pet & lawn care industry, but i have no idea what steps to take next.

6.  I am Rose, an avid fan of all your work.  The other day I heard you have people coming to your events all the way from Columbia? I live in Costa Rica, and I got the craziest idea of proposing you to hold one of those events here. I would love to meet you personally and here there is SO much you could do in regards to adventure tourism, nature tourism, volcanoes, beaches, rivers, canopy, a huge variety of forests, scuba diving, dolphin/whale watching, etc.
