Quotation – Here’s a quotation from Warren Buffet:

“I know people who have a lot of money,” he says, “and they get testimonial dinners and hospital wings named after them. But the truth is that nobody in the world loves them. When you get to my age, you’ll measure your success in life by how many of the people you want to have love you, actually do love you. That’s the ultimate test of how you’ve lived your life.”

I know people who have a lot of money,” he says, “and they get testimonial dinners and hospital wings named after them. But the truth is that nobody in the world loves them ” – Methinks that Mr. Buffett may be talking about himself. His family relationships are absolutely a shambles – he has a daughter he rarely acknowledges whose biggest problem is that she was born female, and a wife he refuses to divorce because he doesn’t want to share the wealth. He’s shacked up with a second woman that his sons don’t like at all. Another case of “do as I say, not as I do.”

Dan, you mentioned people coming in your theoretical book store and looking at books and then checking Amazon.com and seeing it’s cheaper there and buying it online while they are in the store…. I do that FREQUENTLY. And I do that with Barnes and Noble! Since I’m part of Prime I get even better discounts at Amazon and free 2 day shipping. So why pay $15 today if I can get it for 9 in two days???

Thank you so much for playing that clip from Mr. Holland’s Opus! That is a much-needed reminder for me today (and most days).

Randy – isn’t that a great reminder for all of us. Sometimes we underestimate the value of our somewhat ordinary lives.
