48 Low or No Cost Business Ideas

Have you ever seen a business and immediately thought – “Why didn’t I think of that?”  Three college friends (Adam Paulson, Brian Miller and Kevin Wool) had attended a few ugly sweater parties.  In 2006 they started a blog site UglyChristmasSweaterParty just to write about the funny parties.  Then in 2009, readers began commenting that they were having a hard time finding ugly sweaters for the parties.

On November 14, 2009, Adam Paulson went to a Goodwill store and bought nearly 60 sweaters.  The guys photographed all of them and put the pictures on their website.  They sold out in one day.

From there they went from Goodwill to Goodwill, picking up everything they could find in ugly sweaters.  They rented a storage facility and now have scouts who help them find ugly sweaters.

Then an agent approached them and asked them to put a book proposal together.  The Ugly Christmas Sweater Party Book was published this year and is packed with more than 100 hilarious, full-color photos of outrageously ugly Christmas sweaters.  The book is a best seller.

So what hot idea are you sitting on that could unlock this kind of success for you?  Need some ideas to get youstarted.  This week we released our brand new product – 48 Low or No Cost Business Ideas.  We put up an ebook version a couple months ago and saw over 90,000 downloads in the first week.  Obviously, this is a hot topic.  Now we’ve refined the ideas and the presentation into this beautiful 8.5×11 book.  We did a special to get this for only $15 instead of $30, and we are down to our last 50 copies!

Please recognize – ugly sweaters didn’t create the crazy and successful business described here.  No, the business success was created by three crazy guys who created a plan and took action.  Ideas are a dime a dozen — but if you take action you can change your life.

I perfectly agree with you, Dan. Definite plan of action is the missing link for most people.  Generating ideas is no rocket science. Great and morning-spinning ideas are all around us. Some we have even thought of, but lacked the courage to follow through. Dele

Dele – you are so right.  Thomas Edison said, “I have far more respect for the person with a single idea who gets there than for the person with a thousand ideas who does nothing…. “
