Just “stretch your soul”

“I was just a child,” related a retired Baptist preacher, “when one spring day my father called me to go with him to old man Russell’s blacksmith shop. He had left a rake and a hoe to be repaired and they were ready, fixed like new. Father handed over a silver dollar for repairing them but Mr. Russell refused to take it. ‘No,’ he said, ‘there’s no charge for that little job.’ But father insisted. And if I live a thousand years,” said the preacher, “I’ll never forget that great blacksmith’s reply. ‘Sid,’ he said to my father, ‘Can’t you let a man do somethin’ just to stretch his soul?’”

This is a great time of year to do things that just “stretch your soul.”  Tomorrow we’re having our annual 48Days Open House here at the Sanctuary in Franklin, TN.  They’ll be plenty of goodies for everyone – giveaways, desserts, and discounted 48 Days products for Christmas gift purchases.  Most importantly, it’s a chance for us to thank you for being part of the 48Days community.  I encourage you to “stretch your soul” by helping someone in need in this holiday season.

Thank You, That’s a wonderful story and I’d like to add to savor it and add it to my “list”.  I’ve been the beneficiary of such blessings that have helped me financially. I hope to have more opportunities to help others this way in the future, LORD willing.

    Beautiful story Dan.

One of the wonderful blessings that come when someone decides to “stretch their soul” is that everyone benefits.

I simply adore being in the room when that light bulb flips on for folks; it shines on everyone.
