What would you do?

Yes, interviewing questions are getting more and more interesting as employers want to know — How do you think?  Here’s one:

You are driving along on a wild, cold, stormy night in your Mercedes 500SL. You pass by a deserted bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who desperately needs to get to a hospital.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect man (or) woman you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

How do you stay motivated if you don't have a support system?

Play

1. I can’t seem to make enough money to support my family on eBay?

2. If I charge a monthly membership fee for my educational website would that violate “Fair Use” of news articles, pictures, etc.?

3. How do you stay motivated if you don’t have a support system? I am surrounded by non-starters whose contribution is a constant chorus of negativity.

4. I have a phrase/slogan I am considering putting on T-shirts, mugs, hats, etc., but don’t know the first thing about doing this

Just pick up the phone!

Dan, I am hiring a person for our government agency.  I decided to place my name on the ad with my office phone number so applicants could call with questions. I posted the advertisement on March 11 and as of today (March 22) of the 74 applicants, zero have tried to call me to ask about the position.  I am a little shocked that no one has tried to call me about the position. Trey

No One Has Called.  Did you get that? In a competitive hiring environment 74 people still just send out resumes and then hope the phone rings.  How sad!!   It really doesn’t take much to make yourself stand out in a sea of applicants.

Need a quick loan for the hard times?

Abraham Lincoln’s stepbrother, John D. Johnston, wrote Lincoln that he was “broke” and “hard-pressed” on the family farm in Coles County, Illinois, and needed a loan.  Lincoln’s offer of a “matching grant” was a recognition that getting into the habit of working, even if it is a less than perfect job, is far more important than getting a loan or a handout.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN DENIES A LOAN  [Dec. 24, 1848]

Dear Johnston:

Will you be my mentor?

Dan, have you had mentors along your journey and if so, how did you come across them? Also, can you share a few of them and the impact they have had on your life? Ivan

Yes, I certainly have had mentors along the way – people who have impacted my beliefs, my values and my dreams.

The dictionary defines “mentor” as a wise and trusted counselor or teacher.  So my mentors have included Earl Nightingale, Merle Wilging, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, John Maxwell, Darren Hardy, Seth Godin, Tony Robbins, Wallace Wattles, Rabbi Daniel Lapin, Mark Victor Hansen, James Chapman, John Hixson and many more.  Some of those may be familiar names and some may not.  I have had the privilege of meeting most of those, but a couple I have not.
