Remind me to…….

Last week I wrote a post on acting on our dreams.  Some readers commented that it’s easy to get distracted or forget about our goals – even after we’ve made the effort to create them.

I know how easily we can get caught up in just keeping up.  But writing down our goals is the first step to taking action.  Then you must keep those goals in front of you.  During my toughest times – and still today – I post my goals on the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator and the sun visor in my car.  I have found that with those three critical locations I have constant reminders of what I thought was important – and the gentle nudging to take actions that lead to their fulfillment.

When is it okay to be a pastor?

Play

1. Can I make money as a dealer of unique and/or vintage CARS and Trucks?

2. My work has sucked all the creative juices out of me. Now I can’t think of anything I would “love” to do.

3. If CEOs are being fired how can any of us have job security?

4. So how do I establish myself as a (paid) speaker?

5. When is it okay to be a pastor?

Dreams without action lead nowhere

“To dream alone is fantasy if it doesn’t move the heart to act.” Dan Allender (Sabbath)

So what are you doing with your dreams?  Did the dreams you had two years ago change the life you have today?

5-yr-olds know how to dream.  We allow them to have all the fantasies they want.  They become the fireman, astronaut, ship captain, artist or rock star they dream about.  But then  ”life happens.”  Some of these kids are told their dreams are unrealistic. They are taught to be “realistic,” to stay inside the lines and recognize they need to show up at 8:00 and go home to a dreary existence at 5:00.

Unlock your best ideas – here’s how…

Dan, I feel like I’ve lost my creativity. My work has sucked all the juices out of me. Do you have any ideas on how to get the creative juices flowing again? I can’t even sit down and think of my hobbies. What if I can’t think of anything I would “love” to do?

Tips to unlock your creativity

  • You need to “sit” longer.
  • Get away from your normal routine.
  • Go for a long walk, exercise more
  • Take an art (woodworking, sculpture, gardening) class
  • Put yourself around people who are high performers.

How will you be remembered?

Recently, at Little Jimmy Dickens 90th birthday party he was asked what he wanted his legacy to be.

Now here’s a guy who could brag about being the shortest country singer (4’11”), the flashiest, or being the oldest living member of the Grand Ole Opry.  Or he could wish that he would be remembered for his biggest hits, including such classics as:

May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose,” “(I Got a) Hole in My Pocket,” “Take an Old Cold Tater (And Wait),” or “When the Ship Hit the Sand.”
