Be a Friend

I receive several quotes of the day.  I’ve always appreciated morsels of truth captured in a sentence or two.  A couple of days ago this was the quotation from the Napoleon Hill Foundation.   This quotation and the following thoughts here are presented exactly as I received them.  I thought it was worth passing along.

“If you wish “acquaintanceship,” be rich. If you wish friends, be a friend.”

I Can Predict Your Future

No, I’m not a psychic, fortune teller or prophet.  I can’t see into your mind and I don’t need to know your history, your degrees or your family.

All I need to do is spend a day with you and:

  • Listen to what you say (and)
  • Watch what you do

Your words and your actions will tell me exactly where you are going to be five years from now.

Can anyone be Creative?

1. I’m listening through the podcast archives and came across some from 2006 where you talked about 48Days to Creative Income, but I can’t find that book on your site. Why is that?

2. I have been told that one should never give negative information about a previous employer during an interview. But I was being pressured into charging for services not performed. Should I mention this?

3. I have done workshops in churches, prison, and some personal coaching. I get great compliments on how inspiring and motivating the workshops are. What do I need to do to make this fulltime? Help!!!!!!

I’m living in a fantasy world

Sigmund Freud believed that only unhappy people experienced daydreams and fantasies, but he also believed that these were an integral part of the creative process.

To Freud there was great similarity between neurosis and creativity. He felt both originated in unresolved conflicts stemming from all those pathological problems we have – and of course from the improper way our mommies potty-trained us.  And yes, he really believed that creativity came only from the redirection of unfulfilled sexual drives.  Whatever!

I think we can agree that discontentment is necessary for creativity.  If we are completely happy with the way things are now we will never take the initiative to change and improve.

Blissfully Ignorant?

Dan, In a recent 48 Days Podcast you related all the negative things you encounter in your morning newspaper, and then commented that it was nothing good to start your day with (I agree).

I also know the great lengths you go through to make sure your mornings are uplifting and your days start out positive.  Have you ever had a person that “kept up on the daily affairs of the world” but came across as depressive claim you were only blissful because you refused to see the world as it was?

I have this problem with my immediate family.  Marc
