Have a little talk with Jesus

While putting in some new underground lines in our neighborhood this week, the construction crew hit a major telephone line – taking out our phone lines and internet service.

Thursday morning we still had no lines and AT&T was unsure about the timeline for restored service.   I had a heavy day of writing and correspondence lined up but realized those plans were not going to happen.

So I cancelled my lunch appointment and Joanne and I took our granddaughter Clara to the county fair.  We saw proud owners washing their cows and leisurely spent time seeing the sheep, goats, chickens and horses.  We were wowed by a sand sculpture and the art works of local school children.

On the way home we stopped to check out some fall grasses when we passed a nursery “Sale” sign.  While Joanne and I checked out the plants, Clara informed us she was going to go talk with Jesus.  I overheard some of her conversation where she was describing an encounter with her dog the day before.  I admire her vision to see Jesus in places where in my busyness I may miss Him.

Sometimes an interruption in our day may just allow us to catch up and have a little talk with Jesus.  I doubt my scheduled work would have been more important.

    Dan,

Great thoughts! Being the father of a three year old, I never stop being amazed at the imagination, creativity, and conversations that take place!

If only we still operated as they do….Why not?

This is such good stuff- this daily walk thing…I would like to suggest you gathering your own path and walk in Christ as a possible future project “48 Days to a Closer Walk with Jesus.” I have no doubt it would be a great book, and an encouragement to all of us who can relate to the “common things” we all wrestle with from time to time, yet not know if anyone else feels the same way. Just some thoughts…

THANK YOU so much for sharing this sweet “Clara story”…. What a
reminder to us grownups, that we ALL need to have a childlike faith, &
yes, to “talk to Jesus” more often…… Clara has taught us all something….

What a sweet picture. I love how having grand children gives us another chance to see God through their eyes with utmost expectation.

this is so sweet and oh so true – we should always be ready to follow god if he turns a corner in our lives such as happened with you and your plans for that day.

We get so caught up in what everybody else makes us thinks is important that we forget what is really important.
